Steam Pipe Jacket Fabrication, Steel Covers and Custom Pipe Jackets
Industrial facilities often require more than simply replacing a section of pipe.

G-Tech Steel recently completed a specialised pipe fitting and steel fabrication project at a brewery in Alrode, Johannesburg, involving damaged pipework, steam pipe covers and custom-fabricated jackets around valves and associated components.
The project combined industrial pipe fitting, steel fabrication, replacement pipework and custom pipe jackets to restore and improve sections of the existing installation.
The Alrode Brewery Project
The work was carried out at an operating brewery environment in Alrode, Gauteng, where the existing pipework and steam-related components required remedial fabrication work.
The scope included the replacement of damaged sections of pipework and the fabrication of new steel covers for steam pipes.
G-Tech Steel also fabricated and installed custom jackets around valves and other components where additional protection and coverage were required.
Rather than treating the work as a standard off-the-shelf installation, the fabrication was completed around the existing pipework and site conditions.
This type of project requires practical site fabrication experience because existing industrial pipework rarely provides perfectly standard dimensions or access conditions.

Replacing Damaged Pipework
One of the requirements was to replace damaged sections of existing pipework.
Pipe replacement in an industrial environment is not simply a matter of supplying a new length of tube or pipe. The replacement has to work with the existing installation, including its surrounding structures, connections, supports and available working space.
G-Tech Steel approached the work as a combination of pipe fitting and industrial fabrication, allowing the replacement components to be fabricated and fitted according to the existing site conditions.

Fabricating New Steam Pipe Covers
The project also involved replacing damaged steel covers protecting sections of steam pipework.
New steel covers were fabricated to replace the existing damaged covers and provide a practical protective enclosure around the pipework.
Custom steel covers are particularly useful in industrial environments where pipework passes through areas containing other equipment, structures, access routes or maintenance points.
The covers can be fabricated to suit the actual installation rather than relying on a generic component.

Valves and fittings often create some of the most complicated areas of an industrial pipe installation because they introduce changes in shape and require access for operation and maintenance.
Custom-fabricated jackets allow these areas to be addressed individually.
Instead of using a one-size-fits-all solution, the steelwork can be fabricated around the actual valve, fitting or pipe configuration.
Working Around Existing Industrial Infrastructure
One of the important aspects of industrial maintenance fabrication is working with what is already on site.
The pipework, surrounding steelwork, equipment and building infrastructure were already established when this work was undertaken.
That meant the fabrication needed to take the existing installation into account.
